Aquí había 2 cosas que mirar: la vista panorámica del valle al ser este el lugar más alto del recorrido y las cruces. Éste tenía que ser por tanto un mirador de doble frente. Nos pareció además importante crear una buena sombra, dura, sólida y una ventilación cruzada a la vez, cuestiones que se agradecen en las peregrinaciones y caminatas largas. Para construir esto, pensamos en un elemento monolítico, más cercano a la infraestructura que a la arquitectura. De hecho hemos pensado en recoger algo de agua en el extremo en volado; el agua acumulada dentro de la penumbra funcionará como un espejo horizontal, que introduce al menos por un momento al año, algo de brillo a una obra básicamente opaca.

Here there were two things to see: the panoramic view of the valley resulting from being at the highest point of the trail, and the crosses. Thus, this lookout needed to have a double dront. We also found it important to create a good shadow, hard and solid, as well as cross ventilation at the same time, two invaluable components on a pilgrimage of a long walk. For construction, we imagined a monolithic element, more like infrastructure than architecture. In actuality, we hace considered collecting water in the extreme of the cantilever; the accumulated water in the shade will function as a horizontal mirror introducing at least at some moment in the year a kind of shine to an otherwise opaque structure. |
